A federal grand jury Friday indicted former Kentucky Democratic party chair Jerry Lundergan and Democratic strategist Dale Emmons on campaign finance conspiracy charges in connection to the 2014 U.S. Senate campaign of Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes.

According to reports, Emmons was indicted on six counts and Lundergan was indicted on ten counts after investigators found they “willingly and knowingly” made corporate contributions of more than $24,000 to Grimes’ campaign and then worked to make false entries in the campaign’s financial records to cover up the contributions.

Although she has not made an official announcement, Secretary of State Allison Lundergan Grimes has been rumored to be considering a run for governor in 2019.
