Hopkinsville Man Charged With Fleeing From Police

Robert Preston

A Hopkinsville man is facing charges after he fled from officers attempting to serve a warrant at a Hilltop Drive home Monday afternoon.

Hopkinsville Police went to the home to serve 44-year old Robert Preston a probation violation warrant on felony offenses for possession of meth and drug paraphernalia. Officers report they located Preston in the backyard and he refused to comply with their commands and a taser was deployed but it misfired. Police say Preston then ran and jumped the fence to his neighbor’s yard and crossed Hilltop Drive with officers chasing him on foot. Preston continued running and crossed Main Street and ran into the woods behind Super Lawn and Garden. One city police K-9 team and two K-9 teams with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were able to push Preston through the woods to another officer near Rogers Group, where he was again refused to comply with officer’s commands and was tased. Police say Preston then complied and was taken into custody.

Preston was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Resisting Arrest and 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief.
