Police have been investigating a possible accidental shooting which caused the death of an 18-year old Tuesday morning.
Clarksville Police Public Information Officer Jim Knoll reports officers responded to a shooting that had already occurred around 1:15 a.m. at an Eastern Hills residence. When officers office, the found Mason Sandoval inside the home with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville was he was pronounced deceased.
According to Knoll, the investigation revealed 47-year old Kelly Thomas was moving a firearm from one location to another when he inadvertently discharged the handgun, and the bullet struck Sandoval, who was sitting in the same room. There have been no charges filed at this time.
Once the investigation is complete, Knoll says the case will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office for review and recommendations for further action.
