Police say a combination of citizen awareness, field interviews, and good police work led to the arrest of two vehicle burglars. Clarksville Police Public Information Officer Jim Knoll says 20-year old James Adams and 22-year old Billy Hollis were charged Tuesday in connection to vehicle burglaries in the area of Kathleen Court.

James Adams

According to Knoll, the arrest came after a vigilant citizen called in a suspicious vehicle around 3:00 Tuesday morning that had make multiple passes through a neighborhood and stopping at the corner of Kathleen Court and Pam Drive. Officers found the vehicle occupied by a female who had been left with the vehicle and claimed to be waiting for two men looking for a dog. Police didn’t locate the men but made record of the contact with the female. Later in the morning, 911 started receiving calls from residents on Kathleen Court about vehicle burglaries that had occurred overnight. An investigation led to the suspects being identified as Adams and Hollis. Knoll says they were the men that were in the area of the burglaries who were looking for a dog during the same time frame when the burglaries occurred.

Billy Hollis

Adams was lodged in the Montgomery County Jail charged with three counts of Burglary, along with outstanding warrants for Theft and Escape. Hollis was charged with four counts of Burglary, Contraband in a Penal Institution, and Drug Methamphetamine Violation after authorities say he was found in possession of a counterfeit $50 bill and meth when he was being booked into the Montgomery County Jail.
