Man Charged With Wanton Endangerment Of Officer

A multi-county pursuit landed a motorcyclist behind bars facing numerous charges, including endangering a police officer.

Kentucky State Police Post 1 in Mayfield reports a state trooper was on patrol on US 62 in Carlisle County shortly before 2:00 Saturday morning when he noticed a motorcycle operator driving reckless at a high rate of speed. When the trooper tried to make a traffic stop, the operator, 35-year old Derek Brown of Mayfield, fled reaching speeds of 100 mph. Police pursued the motorcycle in Carlisle, Hickman and into Graves County until Brown eventually stopped at the intersection of US 58 and US 45, and then fled on foot. KSP and a Graves County Sheriff’s deputy were able to apprehend him shortly after 3:00 a.m.

Brown was booked into the Graves County Jail charged with his 3rd DUI offense, Driving on a DUI Suspended License, 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment of a Police Officer, 1st Degree Fleeing/Evading Police in Motor Vehicle, 1st Degree Fleeing/Evading Police on Foot, and other offenses.
