June Jobless Rate Fell In One County In Pennyrile

Unemployment rates fell in 115 Kentucky counties between June 2017 and June 2018, and rose in five counties, including one county in the Pennyrile District. The jobless data released by the Kentucky Center for Statistics shows Crittenden County’s unemployment rate rose to 5.8% in June 2017 from 5.7% the same time period last year.

Caldwell County’s jobless rate fell to 6.0% in June 2018 from 6.2% in June 2017.

Christian County’s unemployment rate dropped to 6.5% in June 2018, compared to 7.0% from June of last year.

The jobless rate in Hopkins County fell to 4.9% in June of this year from 5.3% in June 2017.

The unemployment rate in Livingston County showed a slight drop from 7.7% in June 2018, compared to 7.8% in June of last year.

Lyon County’s jobless rate fell to 5.4% in June 2018 from 5.6 % in June 2017.

Muhlenberg County’s employment rate dropped to 7.3% in June 2018 from 7.8% in June of last year.

The jobless rate for Todd County fell to 4.4% in June 2018 from 4.6% in June 2017.

And Trigg County’s unemployment rate dropped to 5.7% in June 2018, compared to 6.1% from June of last year.

Woodford County continues to record the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth at 3.6% while Magoffin County continues to record the highest unemployment rate at 14.9%.

State officials say Commonwealth’s jobless rates are based on estimates and are compiled to measure trends rather than actually to count people working. They do not include unemployed Kentuckians who have not looked for employment within the past four years.
