UPDATE – Antioch Church Road Fatal Wreck Victim Identified

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the man who died as the result of a two vehicle collision on Antioch Church Road Wednesday afternoon. Public Information Officer Captain Chris Miller identified the victim as 37-year old Adam Nelson of Hopkinsville. He says Nelson succumbed to his injuries at Vanderbilt University Medical Center Wednesday evening.

Captain Miller told the News Edge on the scene Wednesday afternoon that the wreck occurred at 1:45 at the 8 mile marker on Antioch Church Road, which is about three miles off of Greenville Road. He said the driver of the moped, now identified as Nelson, was flown to Vanderbilt in Nashville after both vehicles collided in the westbound lane. The driver of the car, 65-year old Calvin Powell of Hpkinsville, was treated at the scene and released.

According to Captain Miller, investigators are reconstructing the accident to determine exactly how the collision happened.

The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Christian County Rescue Squad and Hopkinsville Fire Department.
