Woman Charged With Wanton Endangerment

A Hopkinsville woman is facing charges after police say she hit a woman with a stick while she was holding an infant.

Hopkinsville Police report 37-year old Shinaka Cooper was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Wanton Endangerment and 4th Degree Assault (Minor Injury).

Police say Cooper was arrested shortly after 7:00 Monday night for hitting the victim in the face with a wooden stick as she was carrying a one year old child in her arms, causing minor injuries to the victim’s mouth. According to police, her actions caused substantial danger of death or serious injury to the child the victim was holding. Officers reportedly found the stick in Cooper’s vehicle.
