UPDATE – One Person Killed In Breathitt Parkway Wreck

The Christian County Coroner’s office has released the name of the man killed in a single-vehicle wreck Saturday on the Breathitt Pennyrile Parkway.  Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes identified the man as 34-year-old Matthew Childs, of Dixon.

Kentucky State Police is investigating the wreck that happened around 4:20 near the 26 mile-marker, which is about three miles north of the Crofton interchange.

According to Christian County Emergency Management Director Randy Graham, the driver of an SUV with out of state tags was headed south on the parkway when he ran off the road, crossed the median and rolled multiple times.  The vehicle landed on its wheels.

Other drivers stopped and pulled the victim from the wreckage and attempted to perform CPR.  Childs was pronounced dead at the scene by Christian County Deputy Coroner Mike Stokes.

Kentucky State Police was assisted at the scene by the Christian County Sheriff’s Department, Christian County Rescue, and Crofton Police.
