There was good economic news for Christian County Thursday. Governor Matt Bevin announced DENSO Air Systems Michigan will expand its presence in the county with an investment of more than $3.5 million. The expansion is expected to create 45 full-time jobs.

DENSO Air Systems will build a 48,000-square-foot addition onto its facility on Frank Yost Lane, doubling the building’s footprint. The company also will purchase new equipment to help meet rising customer demand. The expansion will boost production of aluminum HVAC pipes, tubes and hose assemblies for the automotive industry.

The DENSO Air Systems plant was established in 2011 and currently employs 124 people. DENSO Air Systems is a subsidiary of DENSO, a global automotive technology, systems, and components supplier.

To encourage the investment and job growth in the community, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved the company for tax incentives up to $900,000 through the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based incentive allows a company to keep a portion of its investment over the agreement term through corporate income tax credits and wage assessments by meeting job and investment targets.
