The occupants of all twelve apartments at Campbell Place were displaced after a fire damaged one of the apartments in the building Wednesday afternoon.  According to Hopkinsville Fire Department Public Information Officer Captain Michael Pendleton, firefighters were called to the 1800 building of Campbell Place Apartments on Denzil Drive shortly before 6:00.

The fire was determined to be a cooking fire in one of the apartments.  The apartment sustained extensive damage, with significant smoke and water damage to the adjoining apartments.

Firefighters from all four Hopkinsville stations responded to the fire.  No injuries were reported to any of the residents of the apartment building.

Captain Pendleton says all twelve apartments were vacated as a result of the fire.  He says 13 adults and two children were temporarily displaced until the units are deemed safe to return to.  Pendleton adds three apartments suffered damage, with nine others evacuated due to smoke damage.
