Friends OF LBLA Names New Executive Director

The Board of Trustees of the Friends of the Land Between the Lakes Association announced Wednesday a new Executive Director has been appointed to replace John Rufli, who retired after 14 years in the position. Friends of the LBLA President and Chair of the Hiring Committee, Geneva Parris says Aviva Yasgur will joining their management team on August 1.

According to Parris, Yasgur is very familiar to the employees of the LBLA, employees of the Forest Service, and customers Land Between the Lakes and the surrounding region. She initiated her relationship to LBL as an intern, more than 17 years ago, and since has held numerous positions. She was well-known at the Nature Station during her years of employment as she and other staff displayed and explained their relationship with nature. Parris says they are happy to welcome Yasgur back home as she crosses the Eggner Ferry Bridge entering LBL in her new and important role.

The Friends of the LBLA is a nonprofit organization that employs more than fifty employees to work with public and private stakeholders to educate, improve, promote, conserve, and provide stewardship for the national recreation area. The Friends organization operates many of the daily activities enjoyed at LBL.

The Board will be sponsoring a Welcome Aboard with their new Executive Director for staff, volunteers, Friends of LBLA, and Forest Service staff to be announced in the near future.
