City Financial Officer Robert Martin presented council members with a good financial report as the fiscal year winds down. After ten months, he says the payroll tax is doing well and shows an increase of 3% over last year.

He also says property tax is also doing very well and he expects the percentage of assessment of 99.9%.

In addition, he presented the General Fund Cash Balance which shows the City has more than $10 million available cash, which he attributes to a combination of more revenue and the departments doing well on expenditures. Martin says he doesn’t recall the cash balance ever being over $10 million, but he notes it will go back down over the next couple of months. However, he adds the City will still have a healthy cash balance.

Mayor Hendricks also recognized retired Hopkinsville Fire Department Firefighter and EMT Ron Luckey, Firefighter and Paramedic Tom Strack, and Battalion Chief Dan Davis.

In addition, the mayor recognized the state Chess tournament participants that came in 4th in state competition and recently competed in nationals at the Opryland Hotel and Convention Center where they are ranked 19th in the nation, currently.
