Fort Campbell officials have released a few more details about the soldier whose body was recovered Monday morning after a boating accident on Kentucky Lake Friday afternoon.

Army officials says 20-year old Private First Class Juwan Richardson, of Gordon, Alabama, was a petroleum supply specialist in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, “Strike”. He joined the Army in 2016 and arrived at Fort Campbell in 2017. Richardson’s decorations include National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and Air Assault Badge.

Richardson’s battalion commander in the 2nd Bridge Combat Team, Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Adamczyk says in a release that he was a dedicated and hard-working member of the Strike Brigade. He notes Richardson was an integral member of the team, respected and loved by all his fellow soldiers. He went on to say Richardson’s infectious positive attitude and tireless work ethic will be solely missed. Colonel Adamczyk says their thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.

Richardson’s body was found Monday morning after multiple rescue squads searched tirelessly for his body throughout the weekend. He went missing Friday afternoon after he went under water and didn’t resurface while being pulled by a pontoon boat in the area of the Twin Lakes board ramp on Kentucky Lake in Land Between the Lakes.

Fort Campbell officials say the cause of the accident is under investigation.
