Motorists using the Interstate 24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 interchange need to be aware you may experience two brief traffic interruptions Wednesday as crews place overhead sign trusses.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the first interruption will be for southbound traffic on the Purchase Parkway just south of the I-24 Overpass sometime between 10:00am and 2:00pm Wednesday, with traffic halted for about 15 minutes.

The second brief traffic interruption will be for eastbound traffic on I-24 with in the Exit 25 work zone. Todd says police will assist with a rolling road block to slow eastbound traffic starting near Exit 16, the US 68 Paducah exit. He indicates the rolling road block will create a break in traffic that will allow the contractor to place an overhead sign truss for the eastbound lanes near the 24 mile marker. The sign truss placement is scheduled for about 9:30 Wednesday night.

Todd says motorists who plan to travel through the I-24/Purchase Parkway Exit 25 Interchange reconstruction project should be aware of these brief traffic interruptions and use appropriate caution.

Jim Smith Contracting of Grand Rivers is the prime contractor on the $37.8 million interchange reconstruction project, which is approximately 85% complete. The new I-24/I-69 interchange at Calvert City has a target completion date of July 1.
