The McLean County attorney has declined to prosecute former McLean County Schools Superintendent Terry Hayes, according to Kentucky State Police. The attorney reviewed the investigative report regarding a charge of harassment being brought against Hayes, and determined the evidence was not sufficient for what is required under Kentucky law.

Hayes, the former assistant principal at Hopkinsville High School, resigned as the McLean County superintendent in March after allegations of “inappropriate conduct,” which he denied.

At that time, KSP Post 16 Public Information Officer Corey King told the News Edge they would be looking to see if any crimes were committed by Hayes.

Prior to his resignation, Hayes was reportedly suspended following special called meetings of the McLean County school board.

Hayes formerly served as the assistant principal and basketball coach at HHS until he resigned in 2010.

In 2017, Hayes was named Superintendent of the Year by the Kentucky Education Development Corporation.
