Council Approves CAO Appointment

During Tuesday night’s meeting, Hopkinsville City Council approved the appointment of the new City Administrator Officer.

Council went into closed session for approximately 30 minutes to discuss the appointment of Troy Body as the new CAO. During the open meeting, Body was approved as the CAO by a vote of 11-1, with councilman Tom Johnson casting the lone nay vote.

Body’s beginning base salary will be $92,620.

Council also unanimously approved a resolution authorizing Mayor Carter Hendricks to enter into an agreement with the Kentucky Office of Homeland Security and execute any documents necessary pertaining to a grant in the amount of more than $160,000 requested by the Hopkinsville Police Department. The grant project will be used to purchase a Mobile Command Center for Law Enforcement, First Responders, and City officials during incidents requiring a single and/or unified command.

In other business, council unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance accepting a portion of Griffin Bell Drive that will allow public access to various businesses located in the area and will provide for future development that will be beneficial to the public interest.
