After 6.5 years and seven successful campaigns, a small crowd gathered for a reception Monday afternoon to honor outgoing United Way of the Pennyrile Executive Director Jennifer Maddux.

United Way board chair Holly Boggess expressed the organization’s gratitude for all Maddux has accomplished during her tenure, as well as raising it to another level.

Campaign chair Leslie Carroll also spoke at the reception and said Maddux has been a blessing for the United Way and the 21 partner agencies.

Maddux thanked everyone and the community for their generosity over the years.

Maddux told the News Edge she feels the United Way has grown a lot by working with their agencies.

Boggess presented Maddux with a journal that community members signed, along with earrings and a necklace with her birth stone, Amethyst.

Monday was Maddux last day at the United Way. She says she is taking a break this summer and plans to return to work in the future, but right now she is just looking forward to spending time with her children and family.

The reception, that included a cake and finger foods, was held at the Planter’s Bank Latham Building on South Virginia Street.
