Hopkinsville Community College’s 52nd Commencement Ceremony will be held Friday evening at the James E. Bruce Convention Center. The commencement speaker will be Eva Self, a nationally recognized, inspirational speaker and adult education instructor at HCC.

HCC Registrar Tiffanie Witt says 768 students have applied for 1,198 credentials – 502 two-year degrees, 653 certificates, and 43 diplomas.

HCC President Dr. Alissa Young says in a release this is the best time of their academic year, a time for the college to celebrate student success. She adds they will honor several academic award winners along with the announcement of HCC’s Spirit Cup winner. In addition, she notes there will be several firsts they are excited to share. Dr. Young indicates six students are graduating from HCC’s first KYFame cohort, which focuses on industrial maintenance, and five students are receiving credentials from HCC’s new medical assisting program.

The 2018 class will also include 42 graduates from the Rotary Scholars program, which provides funds for any student who graduates from a public or private high school in Christian County to attend HCC tuition free. The partnership between HCC and the Hopkinsville Rotary Club began with the 2012 graduating class.

The commencement ceremony will begin at 7:00pm, and it will be streamed live online. A link to the webcast can be found on HCC’s website homepage, under announcements and on the college’s social media pages on the day of the event.
