Man Facing Multiple Charges After Pursuit

A Hopkinsville man is facing several charges after he reportedly fled from officers when they tried to make a traffic stop because the license plate on his vehicle was not visible. The attempted traffic stop occurred at 2:25 Friday morning at the intersection of West 17th and High streets.

Hopkinsville Police say the driver of the vehicle, identified as 18-year old Khalil Thacker, fled from officers and was driving recklessly. He continued to flee and then crashed into a guide wire to a power pole and then continued on to the intersection of West 20 and South Main streets where he jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Thacker was apprehended by officers at Bethel and South West 17th streets shortly after 2:35am.

Thacker was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police In a Motor Vehicle, 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, Reckless Driving and some traffic offenses. Police say he also had an arrest warrant out of Christian County for Theft By Unlawful Taking – Auto $500 or more but Under $10,000.
