Man Charged With Stealing Vehicle, Fleeing Police

A Clarksville man is facing multiple charges after police say he stole a vehicle from a store on Lafayette Road and led officers on a short pursuit.

Hopkinsville Police report 28-year old Jacob Knight took the vehicle from the Dollar General on Lafayette Road shortly after 3:10 Thursday afternoon. Police say he fled from officers at high rates of speed causing risk to other motorists. Knight also reportedly took the victim’s phone out of the stolen vehicle. Reports indicate Knight ditched the vehicle in a field near Novadell Steakhouse located at 500 Novadell Way.

Police say Knight was apprehended by a K-9 and failed didn’t comply to commands when officers were trying to handcuff him. He was taken into custody around 4:15pm.

Knight was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking Auto – $10,000 or More But Under $1 million, Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License, Theft By Unlawful Taking All Others $500 or More But Under $10,000, 1st Degree Fleeing or Evading Police in a Motor Vehicle, and Resisting Arrest.
