An investigation into drug trafficking led to the arrest of a Madisonville man Tuesday night. The Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit reports 39-year old Christopher Peyton was taken into custody at 6:00pm at a residence in the 100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard in Madisonville.

During an investigation in January, authorities say detectives utilized a confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine in which Peyton was suspected to have made the delivery. When detectives went to arrest Peyton on a drug trafficking charge, they say it was suspected he threw a bag containing crack cocaine on the floor of the residence. Detectives then obtained a search warrant that was executed at a Martin Luther King Boulevard residence. Officers reportedly seized crack cocaine, marijuana, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

Peyton was lodged in the Hopkins County Jail charged with 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance (Meth), Possession of Cocaine, and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
