A Hopkinsville man is facing assault charges after he was arrested on a warrant over the weekend after he allegedly assaulted a female at a party in Oak Grove last month. Hopkinsville Police say 27-year old Maurice Lane was taken into custody at a residence in the 200 block of Wildwood Drive at 12:40 Sunday afternoon.
On March 25, according to the arrest warrant taken out by Oak Grove Police, Lane hit a female victim in the face and nose area multiple times after the victim got into a scuffle with some other females at a party. As she was leaving, Lane came to the residence in a vehicle, got out and allegedly began assaulting her. Police indicate another person intervened and stopped Lane from assaulting the victim. The victim was reportedly treated at Tennova Medical Center in Clarksville and then transferred to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville due to the severity of her injuries, which police say included bleeding on the brain, a broken nose, and concussion.
Lane was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 2nd Degree Assault.
