HCC Foundation Receives Anonymous Gift

An anonymous gift to the Hopkinsville Community College Foundation will help underwrite the new student emergency fund.

A local, retired physician and his wife made the gift to specifically honor of new college president, Dr. Alissa Young. She is set to be invested and inaugurated officially as the 6th president of the college Thursday afternoon, April 12 at 3:00.

Jo Glover, president of the HCC Foundation said “With the recent tornado and losses suffered by students of HCC, the Foundation decided to quickly act by asking students, faculty and friends of the college to donate personal hygiene items as well as money to provide immediate aid.” She said “ This gift establishes a base fund so that the college is able to assist students who find themselves in the midst of traumatic, crisis situations.”

Others will have the opportunity to donate during the Celebrating Community Talent Showcase on April 11 at 6:30 in the Auditorium Lecture Hall. It will be held during the college’s town and gown festivities. The event is a pay what you can to raise additional funds for the student emergency fund.
