Requests for proposals could soon be sent out for the planned construction of four kayak ramps along Little River. The announcement was made during Wednesday’s meeting of the Cadiz-Trigg County Parks and Recreation Board.

David Westerfield, of the nonprofit Little River Ramp Project, says one of the ramps could even be designed to be compliant with Americans With Disabilities Act requirements. He adds that could make it one of only a handful of ramps like it in the state.

Ramps sites in West Cadiz Park, off Will Jackson and Coyote Ridge roads, and at the county recreational complex have been proposed. While the Coyote Ridge Road location is the one that could be ADA compliant, each of the four sites comes with their own challenges, according to Westerfield.

The board voted to approve a bid from Mojo Sports, of Henderson, to provide Trigg County Youth Athletic Association teams with uniforms. The order is expected to provide 270 youth with athletic attire, according to Parks and Recreation Director Jeff Hunter. The board selected the same company to provide logoed windscreens at the county complex.

A misquote received last month to replace turf in the batting cages at the complex led the board to revisit the issue. Fleener’s Home Planning, of Leitchfield, had been selected, however, a quote from Ricky Bridges, of Cadiz, was approved instead.
