Drug Trafficking Complaints Lead To Three Meth Arrests

Police say drug trafficking complaints led to the arrest of three Dawson Springs residents for trafficking and possession of meth.

The Madisonville/Hopkins County Vice/Narcotics Unit the arrests were the result of surveillance being conducted in the area of the 2800 block Olney Road in Dawson Springs due to the complaints against 46-year old Charles David Hayes for trafficking illicit drugs, including meth, from his residence. Police say Hayes also had six active arrest warrants from numerous counties, including Caldwell County for charges of Fleeing and Evading Police, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of Methamphetamine. Hayes was reportedly out on bond for three felony cases in Hopkins County including charges of Trafficking Meth and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.

The report says around 3:15 Tuesday afternoon, detectives smelled marijuana coming from a detached building at the residence and they apprehended 54-year old Jeffery Richey, who possessed marijuana and meth. Police also found Hayes and 34-year old Donna Stanley in the rear of the building, who both had active arrest warrants. Officers say Hayes was also in possession of brass knuckles and Hydrocodone at the time of his arrest.

A search warrrant was executed at the residence and detectives report they seized approximately 2.5 ounces of a white crystal substance, suspected to contain crystal meth, with a street value of $6,900.00. Detectives also seized paraphernalia consistent with trafficking illegal drugs, money and illicit prescription medication.

All three subjects were lodged in the Hopkins County Jail. Hayes and Stanley were charged with Trafficking Meth Over Two Grams. Hayes is facing additional charges of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, along with three warrants for Failure To Appear, a Caldwell County Arrest Warrant, and two Child Support Warrants. Stanley also was served two warrants for Failure to Appear. Richey was charged with Possession of Meth and Possession of Marijuana.
