A Hopkinsville man was charged with auto theft Monday after police say he took a vehicle and then tried to sell it online. Sierra Chambers of Walnut Street filed a report with Hopkinsville Police shortly before 8:50 Monday morning that a suspect unlawfully removed her 2007 gold Chevrolet Tahoe from a repair shop. Minutes later, police say Chambers called back and stated the vehicle had been found parked at a home in the 1800 block of East 7th Street.

The police report says officers went to the residence and two individuals drove up and stated they were there to buy the vehicle. They then showed police messages between them and 18-year old Khalil Thacker when and where to meet for the sale. Police say they waited with the vehicle until Thacker showed up and was arrested on two outstanding warrants.

Police indicate Thacker admitted to taking the vehicle and placing it online for sale. Officers reportedly found him in possession of the key and title to the vehicle.

Thacker was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Theft By Unlawful Taking Auto Over $10,000.
