Officials at Fort Campbell will be testing the public alert system Tuesday. A release says at 1:00pm the Fort Campbell Emergency Operations Center will test the Integrated Public Alert & Warning System – Wireless Emergency Alert. The test message will say “Test Test This is only a test from Fort Campbell Emergency Operations Center.”
The Wireless Emergency Alert is a one-way message and is similar to a text message. The messages are free, and not a service someone needs to sign up for. The service uses cell phone towers on Fort Campbell. Those off post, but close by in parts of Montgomery, Christian, Trigg, and Stewart counties are likely to also receive the messages.
Officials say the test will only be conducted if we have clear weather conditions.
