New Madisonville Police Chief Named

The new chief of the Madisonville Police Department was sworn in Thursday morning. Mayor David Jackson announced Wednesday that Chris Taylor replaces Chief Wade Williams, who retired Thursday.

Taylor began in career 24 years ago with the Madisonville Police Department. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration, has attended the Academy of Police Supervision, Southern Police Institute’s Administrative Officer’s Course, Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy and the Criminal Justice Executive Development Course. Most recently he served as Major of Operations Division. Mayor Jackson says Taylor also has served in every operable position offered by the Madisonville Police Department.

Mayor Taylor says in a social media post he looks forward to continuing to work with Taylor as he takes on the role of Chief of Police. He went on to say they have worked together for several years, and he has complete confidence in Taylor’s ability to do an outstanding job for the City of Madisonville and the citizens.

Chief Taylor was sworn in during a ceremony Thursday morning held in the City Council Chambers.
