The Todd County community is mourning the loss of a longtime businessman. 79-year old Tommy Hampton passed away Tuesday after a long illness. He was the owner of Hampton’s Dairy Mart on West Main Street in Elkton. A stop that has been a staple in the community since 1960. Todd County Publisher Ryan Craig says nearly everyone who has grown up in Todd County has fond memories of the Dairy Mart.

Elkton Mayor Jackie Weathers tells the News Edge she is saddened to hear of the loss of Hampton as he was a family friend and someone she’s known her whole life. Weathers says Tommy Hampton was a fine businessman and contributor to the Elkton community and that everyone who has known him will miss him. Hampton was on the Board of Director of the United Southern Bank for 35 years and a stockholder.
