Cadiz Man Charged With Drug Trafficking, Fleeing

A Cadiz man was arrested Thursday night for trafficking cocaine, fleeing from police and other offenses. Hopkinsville Police say 28-year old Russell Lancaster was observed shortly before 10:20pm making a left turn onto North Sunset Circle from Country Club Lane in front of oncoming traffic nearly causing a collision. Once the traffic stop was made, police report Lancaster took off running around a house in the 100 block of North Sunset Circle, but was apprehended by officers.

During the course of the foot pursuit, Lancaster reportedly dropped a substantial amount of cocaine in the yard where he fled. Police say they also found a large amount of cash consistent with trafficking narcotics in Lancaster's pocket, as well as a bag of synthetic marijuana. Police note officers also found an open can of alcoholic beverage in the center console of the vehicle.

Lancaster was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 2nd Degree Fleeing or Evading Police on Foot, 1st Degree Trafficking in a Controlled Substance – Cocaine, Possession of Synthetic Drugs, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol or Drugs, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle Prohibited, and a traffic violation.
