A Grand Opening for the new Huck’s at the Western Kentucky Parkway Travel Center at Beaver Dam will be held in mid-March. Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the contractor has been working to get the new facility open, but due to inclement weather and other problems it was pushed to March.
He says the new facility is wonderful and Huck’s officials expect this store to be model for its other facilities.
The Finance and Administration Cabinet awarded the Beaver Dam contract to Martin and Bayley, Inc. in October 2017 to renovate and operate the convenience rest area. The company signed a 20-year contract with the state to maintain the facility. State officials say the contract also has two 5-year renewal options. Martin and Bayley Vice President Jim Whetstone said in October the facility would employ 20 associates.
The rest stop has been closed since January 2017 when the state declined to renew the contract with Arby’s.
