A 32-year old man has been charged with burglary after police say he forced his way into a motel room and assaulted a female. Hopkinsville Police report officers responded to the Little River Motel on Sunday where the female victim stated Michael Mabern had forced his way into the room and assaulted her by hitting her about the face and arms, leaving visible injuries. The victim advised officers that when she tried to fight Mabern off and retreated toward the bathroom, she dropped her cell phone and he grabbed it. He then reportedly left the room walking toward Piggly Wiggly.

Police say they located mabern walking on Liberty and East 1st streets toward Little River Motel and was arrested in the parking lot of the old Cherry’s Liquors across from Piggly Wiggly. Police reportedly found the victim’s cell phone in Mabern’s back pocket.

Mabern was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with 1st Degree Burglary.
