Police say four people were charged with burglary after they unlawfully entered a vacant home on Mohawk Trail. Hopkinsville Police arrested 34-year old Antonio Stewart, 30-year old Peggy Wood, and 23-year old Benjamin Stamper, all of Hopkinsville, and 23-year old Aaron Cornish, of Princeton. Police report the arrest occurred around 7:50 Thursday night at a vacant home in the 1600 block of Mohawk Trail where Wood’s formerly resided.
Upon arrival, officers say they found Stewart had a machete concealed on the left side of his body. They also reportedly found a bag inside a vehicle that belonged to Stewart that contained a small baggie with a white powdery substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and a baggy with a plastic straw with white residue. Police report the bag also contained Stewart’s barber equipment. Police say Wood was found hiding in the attic of the home with a straight edge razor folding knife inside her purse.
According to police, the subjects entered the home with the intent to remove items from the residence while armed with a machete, K-bar fighting knife, and a straight edge folding razor knife.
All four subjects were lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with 1St. Degree Burglary. Woods was also charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon and served a Christian County Arrest Warrant for Contempt of Court. Stewart was additionally charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
