Sentencing in Human Trafficking Case Delayed

The two people who pleaded guilty in connection to human trafficking in Christian County will not be sentenced until April. Michael Helton and Kiersten Napadano were supposed to appear in front of Circuit Judge Andrew Self Wednesday but are still in the Montgomery County Jail. The two entered pleas in August to Promoting Prostitution. Helton also pleaded to three counts of Human Trafficking. In Montgomery County, both are charged with Trafficking in Sexual Servitude. Napodano is also charged in Tennessee with Money Laundering and Prostitution. Helton is also charged with Patronizing Prostitution. A new sentencing has been scheduled for April 11.

State Police arrested Helton and Napadano in September 2016 after they received a complaint of a female being held against her will at the Quality Inn, in Oak Grove. The investigation revealed that a total of three women were being held against their will and being forced to have sexual relations with several men. A then Oak Grove Police officer was also charged in connection to the case. 43-year old Benjamin Walden, of Clarksville, was arrested on charges of 1st Degree Sodomy, 1st Degree Rape, 4th Degree Assault, Permitting Prostitution, 1st Degree Official Misconduct, 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening, Intimidating a Participant in a Legal Process, Retaliating Against a Participant in a Legal Process, and Tampering with a Witness. The case against him is still pending.
