I-24 Fatal Wreck First District 2 Deaths In 2018

The double fatality on Interstate 24 in southern Christian County Monday was the first deaths reported on roads in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet’s District 2. Spokesman Keith Todd says there are still other districts throughout the state reporting no fatal crashes thus far for 2018.

He adds Districts 1 and 2 have been very fortunate to go this long without a fatality this year when compared to other districts across the state.

Todd adds that to go over a month without a fatality reported in District 2 is really astonishing.

Todd notes in 2017 there were 780 fatalities across Kentucky, compared to 834 in 2016. He says fatalities are down in the state compared to the same time period last year.

The double fatality crash Monday on I-24 near the Lafayette Road overpass involved nine vehicles and claimed the lives of two Iowa sisters and injured eight other individuals.
