Former Deputy Steve Tucker Arrested For Theft

A former Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy is facing a theft charge after allegedly stealing from a non-profit. 49-year old Steve Tucker, of Hopkinsville, was booked into the Christian County Jail on a charge of Theft by Unlawful Taking $10,000 or more but less than $1 million. Drug Enforcement / Special Investigations West Sergeant Dean Patterson says they began the investigation after being notified of the possible theft.
A sealed indictment was issued for Tucker Friday and Police say he turned himself in at the Christian County Jail around 2:00pm. He is being held on a $10,000 bond. Arraignment is scheduled for 12:30pm Monday.
Tucker resigned from his job as Deputy at the beginning of the month. He had been on suspension without pay for two months prior. His suspension came about after Sheriff Livy Leavell said he received information that he then turned over to the Kentucky State Police.
Tucker served as the President of the Christian County Juvenile Services Foundation, which was created to ensure the Juvenile Drug Court continued to be funded after the state did away with the program. Tucker’s role as the President of the Christian County Juvenile Services Foundation Inc. was not contractually connected to his role as a sheriff’s deputy.  The investigation is ongoing by Det. Daniel Morck with the Kentucky State Police Special Investigations Section.

Patterson says as of right now they do not anticipate any other arrests or indictments related to the theft.
