The Key Clubs in Christian County are being proactive about social media and online safety. Hopkinsville Police presented to 60 members and guests of the Hopkinsville High School, University Heights Academy, and Heritage Christian Academy Key Clubs Wednesday night. Detective Travis Shown says as an electronic crimes detective he see the need to education children.

Shown discussed the penalties with the 16, 17, and 18 year olds.
He says the tools used to groom children to take advantage of them have advanced over the last two decades.
Shown cautioned all in attendance to not let the anonymity of online influence their decision making. Key Clubs are a service leadership program sponsored by the Hopkinsville Kiwanis Club and focus on the importance of civic responsibility and giving back to your community.
