Sturgis Man Appointed As Union County Judge-Executive

Governor Matt Bevin has appointed a Sturgis man as Union County's Judge-Executive after the death of Jody Jenkins last month. Adam O'Nan is a farmer and has owned the restaurant Doc and Betty's Place since 2013.

O'Nan says in a release that he is honored and humbled to receive the appointment from Governor Bevin. He adds they continue to offer their condolences and prayers to the family and many friends of Judge-Executive Jody Jenkins. O'Nan went on to say he's eager to work with Union County Fiscal Court as they move forward for the great folks of Union County.

Jenkins was found deceased inside a rental home in Morganfield on January 21. Union County Coroner Stephen Shouse reported a preliminary autospy determined Jenkins cause of death was due to an enlarged heart and significant blockages. However, he added the cause of death could not be determined until toxicology results are returned from the medical examiner's office. Jenkins had served as Union County Judge-Executive since 2007.

O'Nan will serve as Judge-Executive until his position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election. According to O'Nan's Facebook page, he publicly announced December 10 his candidacy for the Union County Judge-Executive seat.
