An ordinance that would change advertising restrictions in the Cadiz Alcohol ordinance is one step closer to being approved. Cadiz City Council heard first reading of the ordinance amendment during Tuesday’s meeting.
The proposed amendment removes restrictions on signs, posters or other types of display advertising, with restrictions remaining for banners.
City Councilman Kyle Cunningham says he brought up the discussion following a request from one of the owners of The Cabin Coffee and Cafe.
Rocky Ridge Baptist Church Pastor Steve Hardy said he doesn’t want to see signs advertising alcohol in the vicinity of the church that is located across the road from the Harper House and Triplets Bar-b-que.
Councilman Frankie Phillips noted there may be some concern by members of the Cadiz Christian Church that is located across Main Street from The Cabin.
Council is expected to vote on the ordinance at their next meeting in March.
Council unanimously approved the appointments of J.B. Moore, Lucas Hale and John Oliphant to the Trigg County Tourism Commission. Council also okayed the reappointment of Bob Brame to the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning Commission.
And council heard a proposal from Jim Codell of Codell Construction for management of the Cadiz Water Treatment Plant project. Council took no action after the presentation.
