Authorities say one person is dead and eight others injured in a crash involving seven vehicles on Interstate 24 near the Lafayette Road overpass in Christian County. Hopkinsville Fire Department Public Information Officer Lt. Michael Pendleton says the crash occurred around 10:29am near the 80 mile marker.
Pendleton indicates seven patients were transported to area hospitals, with another patient flown from the site of the crash. One person was pronounced dead on the scene.
Pendleton adds that both westbound lanes of I-24 were closed while authorities investigate the crash. Drivers are urged to use alternative routes if possible. Meanwhile, Christian County Sheriff’s Major Billy Gloyd has confirmed a silver car was involved in a wreck without injuries they were working at the time of the fatal crash.
