Trigg Officials Say School Threats Are Serious Matters

Trigg County School parents and students will continue to see an increased local law enforcement presence at the school. Sheriff Ray Burnam and Superintendent Travis Hamby discussed the recent threats and the need to report threats in the future during a conversation with the News Edge Monday.

Hamby says if students hear anything about a potential threat, please relay that information.

Sheriff Burnam says any potential threat will be taken seriously.

Burnam adds the student, who was detained Saturday, is facing serious charges as a result of what the student called a joke.

The sheriff reported over the weekend the student told another student that he was going to shoot the Principal and Assistant Principal.

Hamby says students and parents will continue to see more law enforcement officers at Trigg County Schools.

The student who was charged over the weekend was taken to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Paducah. He will face the charges in the juvenile division of Trigg District Court.

Listen to the entire conversation with Sheriff Ray Burnam and Superintendent Travis Hamby.
