MSU Professor Says He Is Ready For Congress

The withdrawal of Sam Gaskins as the Democratic candidate for the 1st Congressional District is allowing a newcomer to politics to step into his place. Congressional hopeful, Paul Walker says his status as a non-political person is a plus.

He is a professor at Murray State University, teaching students English and rhetoric. After two decades of teaching, Walker believes he is prepared for the job.

He began considering a run for Congress last year when he realized it was time for action, not just words. Walker made his first political appearance Thursday night at the Indivisible Group meeting in Hopkinsville. He plans to visit with as much of the 1st District as possible.

Walker says he will be filing in Frankfort Thursday. He will run on the Democratic ticket to challenge Republican incumbent, James Comer.
