College Street Home Damaged By Fire Tuesday

Frozen water pipes may have led to a home being damaged by fire on College Street Tuesday afternoon. Hopkinsville Fire Department Public Information Officer Lt. Michael Pendleton tells the News Edge two stations responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block of College Street around 3:45pm. Upon arrival, he says the residents had evacuated the home and firefighters found light smoke showing from an interior wall. Firefighters ventilated the home to remove the smoke and checked the wall for fire. He says they believe the fire started when some workers were trying to thaw frozen pipes.

According to Lt. Pendleton, there were no injuries reported and the American Red Cross is assisting with relocating the four residents due to damage to the house.
