Hopkinsville Man Charged With DUI After Saturday Wreck

A Hopkinsville man was charged with DUI after police say he slid off the road and hit a utility pole Saturday night. Hopkinsville Police say officers responded to the intersection of the East 1st Street Extension and Butler Road just before 9:30pm and found 37-year old Richard Kesler, Jr. in the driver's seat of the vehicle that had slid off the road due to snow and ice. Police say the vehicle had severe front end damage and the Hopkinsville Electric utility pole was split in half.

Upon contact with Kesler, officers indicate he had slurred speech, smelled of alcoholic beverages, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests.

Kesler was arrested and booked into the Christian County Jail charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs with aggravating circumstances.
