Road Rager Charged After Shooting And Hitting Vehicle

Police say a Clarksville woman was arrested after a case of road rage resulted in a vehicle being hit by gunfire. Clarksville Police spokesman Jim Knoll reports 32-year old Chantale Coats was charged with Aggravated Assault and Simple Possession.

Knoll says the incident occurred around 5:30 Monday evening after police received a 911 call that a 28-year old man was shot at on Wilma Rudolph Boulevard by someone driving a dark colored Dodge Ram pickup truck. The man then followed the vehicle until he was told by dispatchers to stop.

According to the report, officers located the vehicle a short time later on Kraft Street and found a 45 caliber handgun, which had been fired, in the truck's floorboard. Police also found a bullet hole in the rear license plate of the victim's vehicle, along with a bullet hole in hood of the truck Coats' was driving, which officers most likely occurred during the discharge of the handgun at the victim's vehicle. In addition, a baggy with marijuana was found inside the truck.

Knoll says the reason for the road rage was not clearly established, other than Coats being in a rush.

Coats was lodged in the Montgomery County Jail on a $101,000 bond.
