Felon Arrested On Drug And Weapons Charges

Police say a call regarding a man wearing glasses and banging on the front door of a Calvin Drive residence with a shotgun led to the arrest of a Hopkinsville man for multiple charges. Officers responded to the call at a home in the 1700 block of Calvin Drive shortly before 7:30 Monday morning. Upon arrival, officers observed 33-year old Mory Burse driving a vehicle in the driveway matching the description of the suspect. During a search of the vehicle, police say they found a black shotgun as well as a stolen pistol. A passenger in the vehicle reportedly gave officers a written statement that she observed Burse approach the front of the residence with a shotgun in his hand.

According to police, Burse was also found to have a Domestic Violence Order prohibiting him from possessing a firearm. Once Burse was arrested and placed in the patrol car, officers saw a torn portion of a plastic baggie between the rear door and Burse. During a search of the backseat of the patrol car, police found a small plastic baggie with a white powder substance that field tested positive for cocaine.

Burse was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO, 2nd Degree Disorderly Conduct, Tampering With Physical Evidence, 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance (Cocaine), Receiving Stolen Property (Firearm), and Possession of a Firearm By a Convicted Felon.
