Two Trigg County brothers joined an elite list of farmers Monday morning when they were named WKDZ Farmers of the Year. WKDZ owner Beth Mann says the Ham Fest, which was being celebrated with a kickoff breakfast, is about the fun had all weekend, but also something more.
That’s why she says the Farmer of the Year award is so important.
Brothers Johnny and Jerry Thomas were chosen to receive the honor this year.
The two bought their first farm in high school and started using no-till in the 1980s. Just last year they modified a tobacco setter to be no-till. The men were joined at the breakfast by their wives, children, and grandchildren.
